Mrs. Grout is more than just a grout cleaning service. We bring the sparkle to homes and to our community.
Mrs. Grout began as a small service with a big mission. Founder Lisa Council wanted to bring quality, dependable grout cleaning to Central Florida. But she also wanted to use her business to make an impact on the community that had supported her for years.
Lisa is always looking for opportunities to make someone’s day a little bit brighter. She is actively involved in local chapters of BNI, the Chamber of Commerce, and The Hub Charities. Through these organizations, she is able to network with people and businesses who are working to make a difference. The team at Mrs. Grout uses their unique skills and free time to bring a sparkle to the lives of their Central Florida neighbors.
Lisa and her team are more than just grout cleaning specialists for Hernando, Citrus, and Pasco Counties. They are also active members of these communities. Lisa has a particular passion for building up and supporting women. She and her team also do what they can for children, the elderly, local heroes, and entire neighborhood communities.
Mrs. Grout supports women by helping team members succeed.
As she was getting Mrs. Grout up and running, Lisa assumed she would need young men to do the heavy lifting. She quickly discovered that when she gave women a chance at the job, productivity skyrocketed! (As did customer satisfaction.) When it came to grout and tile cleaning and sealing, women took meticulous care to give each customer a flawless finish.
Lisa has continued to develop a company culture of supporting women in the workplace and beyond.
Each employee of Mrs. Grout goes through extensive training. That way, they can support themselves and their families no matter where life takes them.
But Lisa knows that it takes more than a handy skill for people to succeed. When someone on the Mrs. Grout crew is struggling, they band together to lend a helping hand. That could mean offering an extra shift to help make ends meet - or it could mean buying someone a car. The Mrs. Grout family lives out the proverb “A rising tide raises all ships.”
Mrs. Grout supports our heroes by making their lives a little easier.
The Mrs. Grout team has recently found a hands-on way to say thank you to those who give so much to our community.
Lisa is part of a local business networking group called The Hub. She used these connections to found a project called The Community Hug. The Community Hug unites local businesses to uplift a deserving hero in the Central Florida community.
Community Hug’s Impact
In 2021, the Community Hug identified a widowed teacher who could use a reason to smile. The recent loss of her husband to cancer was made worse by the isolation caused by the COVID pandemic. The Mrs. Grout crew banded together with several other local businesses to complete major projects in her home. They provided tree care, grout and tile cleaning, new countertops, and more - all free of charge!
Businesses from The Hub also gave a Community Hug to a local police officer. Altogether, the group completed over $20,000 worth of improvements to the officer’s home as a gift and a token of thanks.
The mission of The Community Hug is to create collaboration, not referrals. Lisa knows that great things happen when we use our skills and resources to take care of each other.
In the future, Lisa plans to involve the community in selecting these heroes. First, the Community Hug Board will gather nominations. Then, the general public will be able to vote on the recipients each year. This way, the entire community can have a part in giving back to those who give so much for us.
Mrs. Grout supports children and the elderly by making sure they aren’t forgotten.
Mrs. Grout makes a point of participating in the local holiday charities each year. A particular favorite of the Mrs. Grout crew is the Christmas Trees set up in Sims Park. These trees are fully decorated by the sponsoring business or organization. Then, they are placed in the park to add to the Christmas cheer. The trees are part of the lighting ceremony to ring in the holidays at the beginning of December. The best part is, a few days before Christmas, families in need can select a decorated tree to take home.
The Mrs. Grout tree usually focuses on children and families. The decorations may center around things like superheroes, sports, or trains. They want to make sure that local children have plenty of options when picking out their trees. Whatever the theme, the Mrs. Grout tree is sure to light up a family’s Christmas each year.
And the Christmas spirit doesn’t stop there with the Mrs. Grout crew. Each year, they select a “wish” to fulfill from the Angel Tree to support local families. They like to pick out an elderly couple or individual to make sure they are not overlooked during the Christmas bustle.
Mrs. Grout supports our neighborhoods by helping people take care of their homes.
As of 2021, Lisa is hoping to add another community project to the holiday line-up. Mrs. Grout, along with other businesses, will be hosting a Community Christmas Wrapping Party.
The idea is simple:
Gather your gifts together and bring them to the party,
Make a small donation,
Get all your wrapping done with the abundant supply of wrapping goodies like paper, boxes, tape, and more, and
Feel better knowing you’re done with your wrapping AND you’ve made a difference in your community.
Lisa plans to use the money raised from the Community Christmas Wrapping Party to rent two roll-off dumpsters. These dumpsters will be used for a community clean-up event in a local neighborhood. Residents will be able to do holiday cleaning for free without having to worry about transportation or trash service fees. She also plans to have someone available to collect old paint and scrap metal.
You can also find the Mrs. Grout team at community events throughout the year.
Lisa and the Mrs. Grout crew look forward to hosting a booth at the various community festivals in the area. They love to come out, talk with the community, and have fun. Look for them at festivals like...
Great Life Church’s Spring Festival,
The Snowbird Reception in Citrus County,
Brooksville’s Snowbash,
The Small Business Bash in Brooksville
...and more!
You’ll see them volunteering with turkey giveaways in November. They also participate in the Achieve & Believe annual scholarship fundraiser in February. Lisa helps the ladies get decked out and have fun for a good cause.
